Borneo Twitchers Tours & Travel Sdn Bhd is a pioneering tour operator based in Brunei Darussalam, dedicated to providing an extraordinary and immersive birdwatching experience. We are proud to be the first of our kind in the nation, focusing exclusively on birding, native bird spotting, and fostering a deeper understanding of their natural habitats. Apart from that, we provide educational school camps and promote corporate team building.We also work closely with communities especially Majlis Perundingan Kampung (MPK) Belingos.

Birding

Birding Enthusiasts

Birding enthusiasts are birders who enjoy watching birds, however, it is not their primary goal for travel. They enjoy seeing other wildlife and taking part in cultural and social activities as well. These birders tend to book their travels through tour operators. Their packaged holidays often include tours to watch other wildlife, and they require some encouragement to undertake birding activities.

Twitchers

These are the people who have their own lifers (targets). These birders are sustainably aware and care about the conservation of birds. On average, enthusiastic and twitchers birders are 55 years old, but some birdwatchers from Gen Y and Gen Z fall within these categories too. Twitchers usually are professional birders who would have their own photography equipment to take top quality pictures of the birds on their lifers.

Professional Nature Researchers

These professionals dedicate their careers to studying various aspects of the natural world. Whether their focus is on primates, birds, or botany, they travel extensively to observe and document their subjects in their natural habitats. Highly knowledgeable in their fields, they maintain detailed records of their observations, often using advanced equipment to collect data. Their goal is to deepen their understanding of nature by targeting specific locations to study rare or unique species.

School Educational Camp

Borneo Twitchers has tours for all age groups ranging from Primary to University level. These tours are educational, interactive, and designed to immerse students in the wonders of nature. Participants will engage in hands-on activities that promote teamwork, enhance their understanding of the environment, and expand their knowledge in a fun and exciting way. Whether it's exploring diverse ecosystems or participating in group challenges, students and teachers are guaranteed a memorable and enriching experience.

Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE)

This programme is for students aged from 14 to 24. The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE) programme has three progressive levels: Bronze, Silver, and Gold. Completing each level successfully results in earning the respective award.The Bronze and Silver levels consist of four main sections: Volunteering, Physical, Skills, and Expedition, while the Gold level includes an additional Residential section. Participants will engage in activities that benefit the community and environment, improve their fitness and health, develop new skills, plan, train for, and complete an expedition.

Community Mural Art and the Officiation of Titian Kampong Belingos

Titian (A word in Bahasa Brunei which means Footbridge) Kampong Belingos was built by the youth of Temburong under the supervision of MPK Belingos and Borneo Twitchers Tours and Travel Sdn Bhd. Prior to this, there was another bridge to enable us to cross the stream, however, it was built using bamboo and needs annual replacement.Thus, MPK Belingos and Borneo Twitchers agreed to construct this Titian Kampong Belingos, leading to the Woodland Wonders Camp. It’s the educational camp in which Borneo Twitchers will be conducting various activities to provide practical lessons for students ranging from primary schools to Tertiary levels. Titian Kampong Belingos is 27.2 meters (approximately 89.2 feet) long and took 4 months to complete.The signing of the Collaboration Agreement between MPK Belingos and Borneo Twitchers Tours and Travel Sdn Bhd underscores a shared commitment to promoting 1K1P, emphasising community participation and involvement in local development initiatives. Furthermore, it aims to strengthen KNK (Kenali Negara Kitani) – the initiative to deepen Bruneians' understanding of their own country – by leveraging eco-community and cultural tourism.Key objectives of this collaboration include providing employment opportunities for local youth especially those residing in Temburong, raising awareness about the unique ecological and cultural offerings of Temburong, and promoting the distinctive products crafted by the village artisans. Through this partnership, the community anticipates a reduction in unemployment rates, an influx of tourists to Temburong, and a significant boost to the local economy.Beyond the signing ceremony, a key highlight of the event will be a collaborative art project involving twenty-six (26) local artists and residents. They will work together to transform the Titian Kampong Belingos, into a vibrant public artwork. This project, spearheaded by Kunyit7Lodge’s owner, Dayangku Kemariah and guided by Larvsh Concept, will not only enhance the visual appeal of the footbridge but also serve as a powerful symbol of community unity and creativity.The titian was officiated by Yang Mulia Abuzar bin Haji Mohd Tahir, Acting Deputy Permanent Secretary, MPRT. Concurrently, an art exhibition themed "Wildlife and Nature" will be held at the Balai Raya, Kampong Belingos. This exhibition will feature a captivating collection of artworks by local artists, showcasing the rich biodiversity of Brunei and inspiring a deeper appreciation for the natural world.This multifaceted event underscores the importance of community collaboration and environmental consciousness. By positioning Kampong Belingos as an emerging destination for eco-community tourism and cultural heritage, it aims to provide the community with new opportunities, such as birdwatching tours and educational school camps.The initiative demonstrates a commitment to sustainable development, empowering the community while preserving the unique cultural and natural heritage of Temburong.
