Joan
Joan brings a birder’s heart to her role as Operations Manager, a passion first sparked when she was just 14 years old. Her official license simply formalised what she has always known. She spends every spare moment pursuing more knowledge about the birds and flora of Brunei. Ask her about favourites, and her eyes will light up discussing the mischievous Corvidae or be filled with reverence for the Bornean Bristlehead. The Bristlehead is not just an endemic trophy, but as a singular, magnificent symbol of her home’s natural majesty.

Meet Tony (also known as Joshua, Chen or Vice), whose journey from the structured world of Avian Engineering to the vibrant pulse of ecotourism was driven by a profound love for nature. Choosing to embrace his father’s legacy in tourism, Tony now applies his sharp, analytical mind to understanding ecosystems and the beauty of Brunei’s biodiversity. A skilled outdoorsman who thrives on camping adventures, he sees the wilderness as the ultimate workshop. His ability to repair machines is matched by his enthusiasm for explaining the intricate workings of a rainforest, making him a uniquely patient and insightful guide.

For Rendy, a profound love for the natural world sparked a remarkable transformation. After serving as a chef, he followed his true calling into the rainforest, trading kitchen lines for forest trails. His journey is a testament to self-motivated passion; through dedicated learning, he earned his Bird Watching Specialised Tourist Guide badge. Rendy’s excitement is contagious! He doesn’t just guide tours, he shares the wonder that changed his own life, viewing every bird and bloom with fresh, appreciative eyes.

Meet Kem: a guide, host, artist, and mentor whose life’s work is intertwined with a generous appreciation for her environment. As a dual-certified guide (City Tour and Specialised Bird Guide), she connects people to the soul of Brunei, from its heritage to its tranquil forest canopies. This same heartfelt dedication is evident in the warm hospitality of her Kunyit 7 Lodge and in her role as a supportive mentor.
